Things to Do in Nashville Over Labor Day Weekend
From outdoor activities—it is still summertime, after all!—to live music and other entertainment, you’ll have your pick of activities on a Labor Day 2023 getaway to The Union Station Nashville Yards. Here are only some of the possibilities…
Take in a Bit of the Bard
On both Sunday, September 3rd and Monday, September 4th, you can catch performances of Much Ado About Nothing at The Yard at oneCITY (8 City Blvd) courtesy of the now-rather-venerable Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s Summer Shakespeare program.
Nashville in the year 1973 comes magically evoked in this spin on Shakespeare’s classic comedy, which is directed by the Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s Executive Artistic Director Denise Hicks and is free to enjoy (but with a suggested $10 donation).
Gates on both evenings open at 5:15 PM, followed by the Insight Lecture Series at 5:30 PM. The pre-show performances begin at 6 PM both nights, presenting Fire Phoenix Belly Dance on Sunday and YSA on Saturday, and the play gets underway at 7 PM.
(You can learn more about the history—and all-around awesomeness—of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival right here.)
Enjoy Live Music in Music City, USA for Labor Day Weekend
It shouldn’t come as much surprise that there’ll be live music aplenty on offer on and around Labor Day weekend this year in Nashville, which well earns its Music City nickname.
From Nickel Creek at the legendary Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium, for several nights starting on September 4th and the Australian Pink Floyd Show at FirstBank Amphitheater on September 3rd to the nightly tunes delivered via the famous Lower Broadway honky tonks and the Musicians Corner free concert on Friday night over at Centennial Park, a home base at The Union Station Nashville Yards sets you up downright deliciously for taking in a concert or two over the holiday weekend.
