Holiday Events in Nashville

For young and old alike, there’s much going on to mark the season this year in Music City.

For example, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens will again dazzle with its Holiday LIGHTS installation, which from November 20th through January 9th will feature better than a million wonderfully arranged lights as well as other seasonal decorations across its 55 acres of botanical gardens. From 5 to 10 PM each evening, you can wander the Peppermint Path, drop off a letter for Santa in his special mailbox, fraternize with a couple of real live hoofed visitors from the North Pole in the Reindeer Village, and marvel at the Pinnacles of Light and other attractions in the Children’s Wonderland of the Bracken Foundation’s Children’s Garden. You’ll also find a Holiday Marketplace underway for a little holiday shopping, and the opportunity to do some festive hands-on crafts via multiple Holiday Workshops.

Another all-ages holiday fantasy world awaits you at Gaylord Opryland’s A Country Christmas, which runs from November 12th through January 2nd. Millions of lights contribute to the vast decorations here. Take to the 15-foot-high ice-tubing hill, unleash your creativity in the Gingerbread Decorating Corner, lace up for the 9,000-square-foot outdoor ice rink, and take some photos with Santa himself. A Country Christmas also features Mission: Save Christmas Featuring Elf, with activities inspired by the modern-classic Will Ferrell movie, and the Christmas in Tennessee Dinner Show put on by the Oak Ridge Boys.

Plenty of other holiday music studs the Nashville calendar this season, as you’d only expect. The Opry Country Christmas takes the stage November 28th, December 5th, December 8th, and December 12th with performances from The Gatlin Brothers, Mandy Barnett, Riders in the Sky, Charlie McCoy, Steve Wariner, and others. Amy Grant and Vince Gill will again delight audiences with their much-loved Christmas at the Ryman show (December 13-16, December 18-19, and December 21-22), while the Nashville Symphony has plenty on their holidaytime docket, including its Music City ChristmasBroadway Under the Mistletoe with Jennifer Nettles, and The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert.

With Christmas in the rearview, you can ring in a brand-new year with the Jack Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash blowout at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, which’ll feature Dierks Bentley, the Zac Brown Band, and other stars.
