Boutique Nashville Hotels Near The Gulch

With boutique luxury accommodations at The Union Station Nashville Yards, you’ll find yourself deliciously close to many of Music City’s most defining—and most vibrant—neighborhoods. Right up there among them, without question, is The Gulch, a hip and happening district on the southwestern edge of Downtown Nashville.

While soaking up our singular brand of hospitality—and the Gilded Age grandeur of our historical architecture—you’ll be well positioned to take in the many delights of The Gulch.

Introducing The Gulch

Named for its topographic setting in a ravine, The Gulch served as a railyard going back before the Civil War, with a roundhouse for train car repair, coal-storage facilities, and other infrastructure. With the end of commuter rail service in the mid-1950s, the area slid into decades of decline, only to be reborn and revitalized at the turn of the past century.

Now The Gulch thrums along as a popular mixed-use district. In 2009, it earned the first LEED ND (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Neighborhood Development) status in the southeastern U.S.: a reflection of the green design and smart growth underpinning The Gulch’s development. Highly walkable and bikeable, and also well served by public transport, The Gulch is an inspiring example of sustainability and community cohesiveness.

Attractions in The Gulch

Bustling and lively, The Gulch offers many attractions, not least—and this shouldn’t come as a surprise, given its position near the heart of Music City, USA—some fine venues for live music. These include the legendary Station Inn, a longtime hotspot for bluegrass.

There are also many restaurants, cafes, and bars, including Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe, Whisky Kitchen, The Gumbo Bros, The Chef & I on Ninth, Otaku Ramen, The 404 Kitchen, Bar Louie, and Blue Stripes Cacao Shop. If you’re in the mood for shopping, you’ll find numerous retailers here, including Blush Boutique, Carter Vintage Guitars, Art Beat Nashville, Patagonia, Nashville Boot Co., and Urban Outfitters.

You’ll find regular special events and happenings on the calendar here, including The Gulch Night Market. And public art abounds in the neighborhood, with eye-catching murals on display.
