Musicians Corner at Centennial Park

Memorial Day Weekend marks the second week in the Spring Series of the beloved free Musicians Corner concert program over in Centennial Park, only a few minutes away from The Union Station Nashville Yards. Launched more than a decade ago and taking inspiration from London’s Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner, Musicians Corner is run by the non-profit Centennial Park Conservancy and aims to provide free access to live music to one and all and to bolster a sense of community.

Along with the live tunes—which over the years have been supplied by everyone from Emmylou Harris to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band—Musicians Corners features food vendors and loads of good vibes.

On Friday, May 24th, the Musicians Corner lineup will feature corookMORGXNWilbyNeil O’Neil, and Jarren Blair. Saturday sees Rayland BaxterMax McNownCarly BannisterChrome Pony, and Annie Scherer take the Main Stage, while the Lightning 100 Acoustic Stage will crackle with performances by S-Wrap & Rashad thaPoetTracee PerrinTiffany Johnson, and David Daniel Parker.

On Sunday the 26th, meanwhile, Musicians Corner Main Stage performers will include Courtney Marie AndrewsCaitlin RoseBoo RayCane & Cancino, and EG Vines. Over at the Lightning 100 Acoustic Stage, Camille ParkerKat & ZachJack Cassidy, and Izzy Potter will play sets.

Other Concerts Over Memorial Day Weekend

The Music City Rose Show at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens

Mark the launch of summer amid floral finery over at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens with the Music City Rose Show, presented by the Nashville Rose Society on Saturday, May 25th from 1 to 5 PM and Sunday, May 26th from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Dozens of top-tier rosarians from the American Southeast will be strutting their stuff and competing for honors across a slew of categories—from Miniatures and Old Garden Roses to Best Rose Photography and Best Rose Arrangements—while beautifying Cheekwood’s Botanic Hall.

The 24th Annual Memorial Day Dash 5K Run

A benefit for the Nashville City Cemetery Association (which co-hosts the event along with the Metro Historical Commission), the Memorial Day Dash 5k Run is a good cause, a healthy workout, and a chance to do some historical sightseeing rolled up into one fabulous event.

Commencing at 7:30 AM, the race proceeds from the Adventure Science Center through Fort Negley Historic Park, rounds St. Cloud Hill, and finishes up in the Nashville City Cemetery itself.

Memorial Day Remembrance & Reflection

At its heart, of course, Memorial Day commemorates those who’ve lost their lives in the military service of the United States.
