Get Inspired at the Frist Center Nashville
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as on several national museum short lists, The Frist Center, Nashville is an absolute must see attraction while staying in downtown. This highly respected art museum is housed in a historic U.S. Post Office building directly adjacent to the Union Station Hotel, with a distance that is less than 200 feet from curb to curb!
Funded in part by the city of Nashville and The Thomas F. Frist Family Foundation, nearly $20 million went into the 1999 renovation before it officially opened as a public museum in 2001. The building was erected in the 1930s to serve as Nashville’s main post office, and the white marble, art deco style façade still gives visitors a stunning first impression. As a non-collecting art museum, Frist Center takes great care to create groundbreaking exhibitions from local, state and regional levels, and also features a highly selective rotation of national and international content among its 24,000 square feet of gallery space. New shows and illustrations are put up every six to eight weeks.
